Sailing and Watersports in Weymouth Bay

Weymouth Bay is renowned for offering some of the best sailing waters in the world, supported by purpose-built on-shore facilities. This combination was famously showcased when the Weymouth National Sailing Academy (WNSA) hosted part of the sailing events for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The area’s clean winds, sheltered waters, and gentle tides create ideal conditions for sailors and watersports enthusiasts of all levels. Spectators enjoy a spectacular backdrop, with the modern academy set amidst the stunning scenery of the Jurassic Coast, the UK’s only natural World Heritage Site on the mainland.

WNSA is home to a thriving sailing community and offers a variety of programs, including sailing and windsurfing schools for beginners through to Olympians. In addition to traditional sailing, the bay is ideal for foiling, kite surfing, and kite foiling, offering exhilarating experiences for those looking to push their skills on the water.

Facilities on-shore include a licensed function room, conference spaces, slipways, a 16-tonne boat hoist, extensive dinghy parks, permanent cranes, and storage for all types of boats.

Whether you want to compete in a major event, try sailing or foiling for the first time, or simply enjoy the thrill of watersports, Weymouth Bay provides an unmatched setting for an unforgettable experience on the water.
