Wow – Weymouth particularly knows how to celebrate New Year. Absolutely everyone dresses up on NYE in costumes and the town celebrates along the waterfront. Revellers gather in Hope Square or near the Jubilee Clock before midnight to ring in the New Year together, before continuing the celebrations on the Esplanade. Weymouth’s New Year’s Eve celebrations are voted among the best in Europe.
Portland is a touch less hectic at New Year. In 2016, we greeted the New Year in with fireworks on the beach, courtesy of Quiddles and The Cove Inn. We had friends to stay and the children thought it was most exciting to stagger down to the sea for the bonfire and fireworks at midnight.
